Common Sense Diet – 16 Common Sense Tips For Weight-Loss

Losing weight does not have to require following some unnatural gimmick, nor does it have to be a painful struggle against temptations and hunger. You can lose weight naturally, safely, and effectively, without even following a fad diet, simply by following these ten common sense tips for weight loss:

  1. Control your portion size.
  2. Never eat until you are stuffed.
  3. Eat only until you are no longer hungry.
  4. Gauge the feeling of hunger by asking yourself whether you are "okay" enough that you could walk away from the food or whether you still must eat more.
  5. Take less food in your plate, share your food with someone else, or pack it to go.
  6. Do not feel "obligatory" to finish the food just because it is on your plate.
  7. Drink lots of water, at least one gallon of water every day.
  8. Stay away from carbonated beverages.
  9. Drink flavored water.
  10. Chew gum when you are hungry.
  11. Eat at least one serving of fruits and / or vegetables with every meal.
  12. Space your meals out by at least three hours.
  13. Do NOT starve. Make sure you eat at least three to four good meals daily.
  14. Get adequate sleep at night.
  15. Get some exercise. Walk 30 minutes per day. Do push ups, do jumping jacks, do sit ups, log, ride a bike, climb up and down the stairs. If you are not going to go to the gym, do something like these, if you are not going to go to the gym.
  16. Watch less TV, because we tend to snack unnecessarily while watching it.
