Losing weight does not have to require following some unnatural gimmick, nor does it have to be a painful struggle against temptations and hunger. You can lose weight naturally, safely, and effectively, without even following a fad diet, simply by following these ten common sense tips for weight loss:
- Control your portion size.
- Never eat until you are stuffed.
- Eat only until you are no longer hungry.
- Gauge the feeling of hunger by asking yourself whether you are "okay" enough that you could walk away from the food or whether you still must eat more.
- Take less food in your plate, share your food with someone else, or pack it to go.
- Do not feel "obligatory" to finish the food just because it is on your plate.
- Drink lots of water, at least one gallon of water every day.
- Stay away from carbonated beverages.
- Drink flavored water.
- Chew gum when you are hungry.
- Eat at least one serving of fruits and / or vegetables with every meal.
- Space your meals out by at least three hours.
- Do NOT starve. Make sure you eat at least three to four good meals daily.
- Get adequate sleep at night.
- Get some exercise. Walk 30 minutes per day. Do push ups, do jumping jacks, do sit ups, log, ride a bike, climb up and down the stairs. If you are not going to go to the gym, do something like these, if you are not going to go to the gym.
- Watch less TV, because we tend to snack unnecessarily while watching it.
